It stings when you wash your face. That is not sensitive skin. That is a damaged barrier.
The top layer of your skin is thinner than a sheet of paper. It is dead cells packed together with fat, like bricks and cement. It keeps water inside your skin and keeps everything else out. Too many actives, a harsh face wash, or one facial too many can strip that fat away. The bricks stay. The cement is gone. So water escapes, and things that never bothered you start to sting.
Barrier Damage
Your skin makes that cement from ceramides and cholesterol, three parts to one. This puts both back in the same ratio, so the gaps close instead of your skin just feeling soft for an hour.
New Dark Spots
Most people miss this part. Irritated skin makes pigment. So every sting and every red patch leaves a mark behind. 5% Niacinamide calms the irritation and stops pigment reaching the surface.
Dryness
That tight feeling after washing is not a lack of cream. It is water escaping. Sodium hyaluronate holds water in the skin, and the fats stop it leaving.
Redness
Panthenol and allantoin calm redness. They will not stop your skin reacting to something it truly dislikes. They make the redness settle faster.
The honest truth
A barrier takes about four weeks to rebuild. The first sign is small: you step out of the shower and your face does not feel tight. The bigger sign comes later — a pimple that heals without leaving a mark. If your skin is stinging now, stop all actives for two weeks and use only this. Then add them back one at a time.

Common questions
How does a moisturiser help with dark spots?
Most marks on brown skin are post-inflammatory — they're left behind after the skin has been irritated. A damaged barrier keeps the skin in a low-grade inflamed state, so it keeps producing pigment and existing marks fade slowly. Rebuilding the barrier removes that trigger, and the 5% niacinamide here also blocks pigment being handed to surface skin. It won't fade the marks you already have — that's Fade Theory's job.
Is this heavy or greasy under sunscreen?
No. It's a liquid-crystal emulsion, so it absorbs rather than sitting on top. Give it 30 seconds and SPF goes over it without pilling.
Can I use it with Fade Theory?
They're built to be used together. Serum on clean skin first, this on top to seal it in. The niacinamide overlaps between the two, which is fine — you're not stacking irritants.
My skin stings with everything. Will this?
It's built for exactly that. No acids, no fragrance-heavy actives, and panthenol and allantoin are there to calm. If your barrier is badly compromised, use it twice daily for two weeks before adding anything else back in.
Will it break me out?
It's non-comedogenic and the 5% niacinamide helps regulate oil. Oily skin can have a damaged barrier too — often from over-stripping it.
